     Francis Burness was born on 3 October 1850 in Edzell, Angus, Scotland.^1,2 He was the son of Alexander Burness and Ann Falconer.^1,3 He married Lizzie Finn on 25 September 1874 in Cook County, Illinois, USA.⁴ He died on 22 June 1910 in Omaha, Nebraska, USA, at age 59.²

     Obituary: In the death of Frank B. Burness, concrete contracor, Omaha loses a very prominent citizen. His illness was of very short duration, death being caused from heat prostration and pneumonia. Besides his widow he leaves four children, one being dead, Frank, jr. The surviving children are Joseph Bonfield, Mary Wylie, Alexander, Michael Cudahy. Interment will be Friday morning at 10 a.m. from the home, at Eighteeth and Missouri avenue, to Laurel Hill cemetery.²
