Her marriage was to Robert Kendall on Jan. 20, 1956, in Wolcott, and he died on Nov. 2, 1983. Mrs. Kendall was a homemaker and assisted her husband on the farm. She was a member of Palestine Christian Church and was involved with the Ladies Aid of the church. Mrs. Kendall enjoyed her rose garden. Surviving is a stepson, George Kendall (wife: Judy) of South Bend. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. service Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Foster-Clapper Funeral Home, Wolcott, the Rev. Guy Brown officiating. Interment Remington Cemetery. Also surviving are 9 nieces and nephews, 2 stepgrandsons and 4 stepgreat-grandsons. Preceding her in death are 3 brothers, 1 sister, 1 niece and 1 nephew. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Palestine Christian Church with envelopes available at the funeral home. Foster-Clapper Funeral Home is entrusted with her care.2

Obituary: Ross was born April 17, 1924, the second and youngest son of George and Mayme McClure of Harrison, OH. He attended the Harrison School District graduating from Harrison High School on May 21, 1942. After his high school graduation, Ross entered Miami University and quickly enlisted in the Army Air Corps Reserves in September of 1942. After attending Miami University for a year, Ross was on his way to Europe and WWII. He arrived in England in January of 1944 and was assigned to the 349th Squadron of the 100th Bomb Group 8th Air Force as navigator. Ross and nine other young men were assigned to a B-17 bomber named Captain Crow and proceeded to fly 14 missions over a variety of targets.On May 12, 1944, the 15th mission took the men of the Captain Crow to Brux, Czechoslovakia. Flying the lead aircraft of the low squadron, they successfully completed the mission and when starting to return they were hit by flak and forced to bail out. Nine of the ten crew members safely escaped the aircraft. They were captured and spent the remaining time as POWs. Ross was liberated on April 29, 1945, at Mooseberg, Germany. He received the Air Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the Purple Heart and the Prisoner of War Medal. Ross was discharged in October 1945.When Ross returned home, he entered Ohio State University completing his degree work and graduating in 1948. After graduation, Ross joined Rike?s Department Store in Dayton, OH, beginning his professional career. He progressed through numerous positions of increasing responsibility at Rike?s. During this time Ross traveled extensively to New York, California and Europe. He learned to love the experience but resigned from Rike?s on March 15, 1969, as Division VP and General Merchandising Manager after 21 years in the fashion industry.After leaving Rike?s in 1969, Ross opened an exclusive fashion store for women called Zapoleans and he continued to travel and operate his business successfully for several years before retiring and moving to Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Ross continued to live in Ft. Lauderdale, traveling to Europe, New York and other places of interest. Ross enjoyed his many friends and family and was always a generous host, friend and uncle.Ross was preceded in death by his parents George and Mayme McClure, his older brother Ralph McClure and sister-in-law Marjorie McClure. Ross went to join his heavenly family on September 23, 2012. He is survived by his close friends Bob Miller and Don Bein who were extremely important to Ross during his later years; his niece Donna Kinnett; his nephews Ray McClure and Robert McClure and their spouses. Ross was loved by many and will be missed by all. His legacy will be to all those he touched and he was an excellent representative of the greatest generation.Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 11 AM at Glen Haven Cemetery, Harrison, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project through Brater Funeral Home, 201 S. Vine St, Harrison, OH, 45030.5
