Obituary: Forbes Burness Our much loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, passed away quietly in his sleep on June 6, 2011 in Rocklin at the age of 92. Forbes was born in San Francisco on June 11, 1918 where he graduated from Lick Wilmerding HS. He served in Saipan during WW II, retiring with the rank of Army Major. He began work in the mail room at W.P. Fuller Paint Co (subsequently Fuller O'Brien) and held numerous positions with the company in Fresno, SF and South SF, serving ultimately as corporate comptroller. He retired in 1985 after 48 years with the company. A long-time resident of Burlingame where he was a deacon with the First Presbyterian Church, Forbes and Georgia, his wife of 69 years, left good friends in 2005 to move to Rocklin near their children. Forbes enjoyed golf, travel and family. Forbes is survived by his dear wife Georgia and their loving family: Rob (Maureen), Ellen Dyer (Dan), Marilyn Griffith (Tom); grandchildren Jessica (Andrew Valls), Robert Todd (Kari Sullivan), Jennifer Dodge (Jason), Renee Welch (Dave), Brian Zumsteg (Jennifer); and great grandchildren Kelsey and Skylar Dodge, Alma Valls and Tate Burness. He is also survived by sister Marion Looney of Seattle, sister-in-law Judy Burness of Santa Rosa, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by father Robert Duke Burness, mother Marion, and brother Robert Duke Jr. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.7

Georgia Canfield Burness, our dear mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away in Rocklin at the age of 93. Georgia was born in Taft and graduated from Castilleja HS in Palo Alto. In 1941, she married her best friend and loving partner for 69 years, the late Forbes Burness, in San Francisco where they both worked for WP Fuller Paint. Long-time residents of Burlingame, Georgia and Forbes left good friends in 2005 to move to Rocklin to be near their children. Georgia was a sweet soul, devoted parent, good friend and caring person who loved travel, brisk walks and making people happy.
Georgia is survived by her loving family: Rob Burness (Maureen), Ellen Dyer (Dan), Marilyn Griffith (Tom); grandchildren Jessica (Andrew Valls), Robert Todd Burness (Kari Sullivan), Jennifer Dodge (Jason), Renee Welch (Dave), Brian Zumsteg (Jennifer); and great grandchildren Kelsey and Skylar Dodge, Peyton Welch, Alma and Nora Valls and Tate Burness. She was preceded in death by her father George Wallace Canfield, mother Helen, sister Emily Brewster, and brother George Canfield.1
