She was a loving wife and mother, an outgoing person who took part in the activities of the community she lived in. She and Scott moved to Vancouver in 1954 and then to Tsuwassen, BC. They returned to Sask. in 1986. Chrissie was an avid reader, enjoyed bridge, live theatre, waks and gardening. She and Scott enjoyed travelling and camping. She enjoyed visits with family and friends. Chrissie had been in nursing care for 12 yers, first in BC and then Oliver Lodge in Saskatoon with her husband Scott at her side almost every day. The Memorial Service will be held at Oliver Lodge Chapel on Monday, August 15th. Memorial donations to the Oliver Lodge Development Project would be appreciated by the family.6

She and Walter were very involved with the community including the Elks and the Royal Purple, the Rotary, and Knox United Church. Kay was predeceased by Walter, her loving husband of more than 65 years. She is survived and lovingly remembered by two daughters, Margaret Code and Sylvia Shaw (Gilbert); five grandchildren, Laura Grift (Gary), Donna Code Castillo (Rene), Linda Code, Sarah Shaw, Andrew Shaw; one great grandson Quentin Code (Shannon); and one great-great granddaughter Angelina Code. In 1949 he moved to Calgary and purchased a store later known as The Burness Hardware where he faithfully served his customers for twenty-seven years. Upon his retirement, John and Rena moved to Vancouver where they spent seventeen happy years. They returned to Calgary in 1995. At John's request, his body has been offered to the University of Calgary for research purposes. Service, Thursday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church.5

He married Chrissie Burness in 1928 and they had two children. While living in Meskanaw, Scott joined the army and was sent overseas in June of 1940 where he served in Italy and France before returning in 1945. He then worked for the Co-op in Wilkie and Saskatchewan Natural Resources in Watrous and Cyprus Hills. In 1953, Scott and Chrissie moved to Vancouver and purchased a hardware store on Broadway. They returned to Tswassen where they built their home. When Chrissie's health deteriorated, the Cranstons returned to Saskatoon. Thank you to all the staff at Oliver Lodge who treated Scott with compassion and care.3

Also surviving are one sister Martha Wagner of Surrey, BC and in-laws Kay and Walter Hassett, John and Rena Burness and Gordon Burness. He was predeceased by his wife if 1994. Scott, boen on January 19,1902 in Hamilton, Ontario, came west with his family when he was 16 years old and settled in the Hendon District. He married Chrissie Burness in 1928 and they had two children. While living in Meskanaw, Scott joined the army and was sent overseas in June of 1940 where he served in Italy and France before returning in 1945. He then worked for the Co-op in Wilkie and Saskatchewan Natural Resources in Watrous and Cyprus Hills. In 1953, Scott and Chrissie moved to Vancouver and purchased a hardware store on Broadway. They returned to Tswassen where they built their home. When Chrissie's health deteriorated, the Cranstons returned to Saskatoon. Thank you to all the staff at Oliver Lodge who treated Scott with compassion and care.3
