Thomsen, on 31 December 1970 in Reno, Nevada, USA.2 She died on 12 February 2009 in Sunrise Assisted Living, Mercer Island, Washington, USA, at age 96.1
     Obituary: Neva Donohoe Burness, loving mother of Sheila Hill, passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Mercer Island. She was 96. A memorial mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 20, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellevue. A private committal will be held at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline.1
     Obituary: Neva Donohoe Burness passed away Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Sunrise Assisted Living in Mercer Island. She was 96. Neva was born September 28, 1912 in Seattle, Washington to Nils and Agnes Kleven. She was raised in Poulsbo and Seattle and graduated from Broadway High School in 1930. Following high school she furthered her education at the University of Washington. After college Neva worked as a Medical Assistant at the Owl Drug Store in Downtown Seattle. It was at the Drugstore she met Michael Donohoe. On May 26, 1937 she married Michael in Seattle. They lived in on Queen Anne Hill before settling in Magnolia. Michael was Executive Sports Editor for the Seattle P.I; his enthusiasm for sports was soon shared by Neva. They especially loved University of Washington Football and Longacres horse racing. Neva was a true matriarch; she cared for her family emotionally and financially. Following the death of Michael in 1961, she went back to work as a Medical Assistant. On December 31, 1970 she married Dick Thomas Burness in Reno, Nevada. They settled in Magnolia where they celebrated nearly twenty two years of marriage. Dick passed away in 1992. In her leisure time Neva enjoyed traveling, especially to Hawaii, shopping, horse racing and Husky Football. Neva is remembered by her family as a loving mother and fantastic grandmother who possessed a bright smile, infectious personality and giving spirit. She is deeply missed. Survivors include her loving daughter, Sheila Hill and her husband, John, of Bellevue; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of extended family members and friends. A memorial mass will be held 1pm, Friday, February 20, 2009 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bellevue. A private committal will be held at Holyrood Catholic Cemetery in Shoreline.
