     Obituary: POLAND, Ohio - Memorial services will be held at a later date for Jean Lacey Burness Platz, 90, who died Thursday evening, October 13, 2011 at Masternick Memorial Health care Center, New Middletown, Ohio. Jean was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Pittsfield, Massachusetts,(Berkshire County) the daughter of John and Lottie Lacey Burness. She was a graduate of the Henry S. Bishop School of Nursing at Berkshire Medical Center, in Pittsfield, Mass. and had worked as a registered nurse, finishing her career at Little Forest Care Center in Boardman, Ohio. She was a former member of the Poland United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Sam) Earnest of Las Vegas; a son, Stephen (Kathleen) Platz of Poland, Ohio; five grandchildren, Lacey J. (Mark) Kogelnik, Carly P. (Joseph) Brinsko, Stephen H. Platz, Stacey L. Platz and Michael T. Platz; and a great-grandson, Colton J. Brinsko. Her husband, Herbert A. Platz, whom she married May 20,1950, died Feb. 12, 1974.
She was also preceded in death by a son, William Platz; a brother, Donald Burness; and a sister, Anne Dobson. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland, Ohio. Professional arrangements are by the Higgins-Reardon Funeral Home, Poland Chapel.
