Walter William Hassett was born on 9 January 1907 in Dominion City, Manitoba, Canada. He married Henrietta Kathleen Burness, daughter of John Masson Burness and Henrietta Deas, on 23 August 1937 in Wadena, Saskatchewan, Canada.1 He died on 12 December 2002 in Drumheller, Alberta, Canada, at age 95.
Walter Hassett (son, age 4) was enumerated in the census on 1 June 1911 in NE Section 31, Township 2, Range 3, Franklin, Manitoba, Canada, in the household of William Hassett.2 Walter Hassett (son, age 11) was enumerated in the census on 1 June 1916 in Township 2, Range 3, Franklin, Manitoba, Canada, in the household of William B. Hassett.3
Obituary: Walter William Hassett - It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Hassett announces his passing on December 12 at the age of 95 years. His beloved wife Kay and two daughters Margaret Code and Sylvia (Gilbert) Shaw survive him. He is also survived by four granddaughters Laura (Gary) Grift, Donna (Rene) Castillo, Linda Code, Sarah Shaw, and one grandson Andrew Shaw, one great grandson Quentin Code and one great great granddaughter Angelina Code. One brother Vern V. Hassett of Burlington, Ontario also survives him. Walter had a kind and generous heart and was always ready to help out in any way he could. He was a life member of both the Elks Lodge and the Rotary Club who had him designated as a Paul Harris Fellow. The family would like to express sincere thanks to the staff at Continuing Care who took such good care of him. A memorial service will be held at the Knox United Church, Drumheller, on Thursday, December 19 at 2 p.m. If friends desire donations may be made to the Elk's Lodge or Knox United Church. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Courtney-Winter's Funeral Chapel.
