     Obituary: The people of this community were greatly surprised to hear of the death of Joseph Johnson on Thursday, Feb. 3rd, after an illness of only a few days. " Uncle Joe " as he was familiarly called was born and raised and has always lived in this vicinity and was most highly respected among his friends and neighbors. At the time of his death he was aged 80 years.In 1842 he was married to Rebecca Grubbs who died a few years since. To them were born three children, two of whom died in infancy. One son, Mark T. Johnson remains with his family and a host of friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian Church Saturday at eleven o'clock conducted by Reverend Petry, assisted by Reverend Watkins of Life Methodist Church af which the remains were interred in the cemetery at this place.2
