He was born in Effington, S.D., to Alfred and Hilda (Gunderson) Benson. Mr. Benson had a varied career background which included owning a nightclub in St. Paul, Minn; logging in Oregon; doing construction in Thule, Greenland; and fishing commercially. He was an avid fisherman, crabber and hunter, and enjoyed working with his lawn and garden. His marriage to Frances Runnels ended with her death in May 1994. Mr. Benson is survived by his stepdaughter and her husband, Marcia and Charles Flathers, of Sequim. Services: At his request, none. Olympic Cremation Association, Port Angeles, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials: Charity of choice.1
