Obituary: Isabella (Isabel) Thomson passed away at the Irene Thomas Hospice in Delta, BC on May 26, 2011 at the age of 94 years. Isabel was born in Langruth, MB on August 15, 1916. She married Robert Burns (Dugal) Thomson and they farmed in the Airedale District north of Langruth. She and her husband raised Sheep, then cattle and grain crops. Isabel raised chickens, turkeys and pigs and later had strawberries and raspberries for sale. Isabel spent most of her life farming in the Langruth area, and it was always very evident that her family always came first. She followed her grandchildren’s accomplishments and was always very proud of them. She looked forward to the new arrivals of her great grandchildren. After she was on her own on the farm, she traveled to BC every winter for 10 years to spend time with her daughter Lillian and family in Delta. In 2003 she made a permanent move to BC, moving into a self care Senior’s Complex, where she led a very active life, enjoying gardening and new found friends. She loved to play cribbage and other card games, enjoyed baking and was always tending to a flower garden. She was always crocheting and knitting and in her later years she knit mitts and toques for the church to distribute to homeless people. Isabel was predeceased by her husband Dugal in 1979; her parents and her 12 brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sister Anna Arksey of Brandon, MB; her daughter Lillian (Keith) Shotbolt of Delta, BC; sons Robert (Cora) Thomson of Portage la Prairie, MB and William (Alma) Thomson of Langruth, MB; grandson Rob (Danielle) Thomson of Thompson, MB; granddaughters Colleen (Scott) Parker of Victoria, BC, Lorrie Shotbolt of Vancouver, BC; grandson Ian (Cherie) Thomson of Neepawa, MB; great grandchildren Sarah and Alyssa; granddaughter Vicky (Volker) Wyrich of Oakbank, MB; great grandchildren Noah, Natalie and Jessica. She is also lovingly remembered by many nieces, nephews and friends. A Memorial Service to celebrate her life was held on Wednesday, June 8, 2011 at 1:30 pm at the Grace Lutheran Church, Langruth, MB with Anne Craik officiating. Interment followed in the Langruth Cemetery.
